This volume proposes a concise report of Lucca's History and of it's population from the origins up to the Second World War. It's a History of Lucca written by an Englishman that uses a different standard than those of traditional stories, introducing essential moments, without leaving out small curiosities. The front text in Italian make it useful for an Italian, who may use it for study or simply for curiosity and wants to know more about the city with a pleasant approach, but always correctly informed.

JOHN JONES has been the Major of Abington for a long time, this city has been twinned with Lucca since 1972. As an Officer of the British artillery he took part in the liberation of Lucca during the Second World War. Now a retired teacher, he has participated to many conferences in England on the town of Lucca and about it's history

Questo volume si propone come un sintetico resoconto della Storia di Lucca e della sua gente dalle sue origini fino alla seconda guerra mondiale. Si tratta di una Storia di Lucca scritta da un inglese che segue criteri diversi rispetto alle storie tradizionali, accogliendo i momenti essenziali e non trascurando le piccole curiosità. JOHN JONES, è stato a lungo sindaco della città di Abington, gemellata con Lucca dal 1972. Come ufficiale dell'artiglieria britannica partecipò alla liberazione di Lucca durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Insegnante oggi in pensione ha tenuto varie conferenze in Inghilterra sulla città di Lucca e sulla sua storia.
